Road Clean-Up Success! Thank you to our volunteers Jim, Stevie, Larry, George, Todd, Maya, Clint, Dan, Kevin and Heather for showing up (and doing miles of squats) for our community. We appreciate all the people who stopped to say “Thanks” and who gave cheer. Nine miles on both sides for 18 miles! THIS SATURDAY, MAY 23rd: Road Clean-Up! Please join us for a clean-up of Government Springs Road. We'll meet at the firehouse at 8:45am for some refreshments, mile marker assignments and bag distribution. If you're late: we'll have bags at the mailboxes at V66 and our ever-smiling radio lead and firefighter George will be there to get you set up. Bring gloves and please wear a bright color. Ridgway Fire Protection District
Ridgway Fire Protection District is accepting applications for a Fire Captain with an EMT-B — a key leadership role within our department and our community. This role is paid hourly starting at $25.82 depending on experience. Health insurance is provided by the district. This position is more than a title. It’s about leading from the front—on emergency scenes, in daily operations, and within our fire family.
As a Fire Captain, you will:
🔥 Lead and supervise an assigned shift
🔥 Respond to and manage emergency incidents
🔥 Support training, development, and mentorship of personnel
🔥 Step in for the Fire Chief when needed
🔥 Help ensure our stations, equipment, and crews are always ready
This role operates on a 48/96 schedule and requires a strong commitment to leadership, accountability, and service.
Minimum Qualifications:
✔️ 5+ years fire suppression and extrication experience
✔️ Proven leadership and supervisory ability
✔️ Strong decision-making skills under pressure
✔️ Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
✔️ EMT-Basic
