💚 WELL, AUGUST… YOU WERE BUSY! 💚

The numbers are in, and Grace Place had another BIG month!

571 visits to our food distributions
8,933 pounds of food rescued
13,171 total pounds of food brought in

13,171 pounds. In ONE month.

That’s a whole lot of food coming through our doors—and thankfully, we had a great crew of volunteers to lift, sort and organize all of it!

Every pound represents food that was available to share with our neighbors. Every rescue means perfectly good food was given a purpose instead of potentially going to waste. And every visit means someone in our community was able to come to Grace Place and leave with a little more food for their household.

None of this happens with just one person or even one organization. It takes our volunteers who show up week after week, our incredible food rescue partners, Second Harvest Heartland, our donors and supporters, and a community that continues to rally around the idea that everyone deserves access to food.

August, you were pretty darn good to us. 💚

But September is already knocking on the door, and we have something DELICIOUS to look forward to!

And this time we're having a TACO BAR!

Yes. A whole taco bar.

❤️ A Little Note from your Executive Director ❤️

What a WONDERFUL distribution today!

This was a BIG weekend for food rescue at Grace Place. Between all of our rescue pickups, we brought in an incredible 2,376 pounds of food! 😲

2,376 POUNDS! WOW!

I have to admit, one of my favorite things is looking at the numbers after everything settles down. (Okay...who am I kidding? I love pretty much all of it. 😂) But there is something about seeing that number and realizing what it actually represents.

That's 2,376 pounds of food that didn't go to a landfill.

Instead, that food went onto our shelves, into bags and carts, and ultimately home with our neighbors. ❤️

There are moments when I have to pause and almost pinch myself. What a blessing it is to be part of something where food that may otherwise have gone to waste can instead help someone put meals on their table.

And today was one of those days.

Our building was filled with people, laughter, kindness, volunteers buzzing around, and a whole lot of love through food.

I also want to make something VERY clear because I never want someone sitting at home wondering if they are “eligible” to come see us:

You do NOT have to live in Montrose.
You do NOT have to live in Wright County.

If you need food, we've got your back.

There is no shame in needing a little help. Life happens to all of us.

When we say ALL are welcome, we mean it.

We want you here.
We want to help you.
And we will be here again next Sunday. ❤️

We’re excited to host another indoor free food distribution tomorrow, Sunday, August 30th at 1:00 PM (We may begin earlier depending on timing.) Distribution will continue until 2:30 PM or until food is gone — whichever comes first. Everyone is welcome!

✅ No ID required — we will simply ask for a small amount of basic household information upon arrival
✅ Please bring your own bags or boxes to carry your items
✅ Please be respectful of our neighbors and do not block driveways when parking
✅ You may pick up food for your household or for another family, but not at the same time. If you pick up for your household and also need to pick up for another family, you will need to return to the end of the line for the second pickup. Please be prepared to provide all required household information for any family you are picking up for. This policy helps ensure fairness and allows us to serve as many families as possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
✅ Posted limits apply to the household as a whole — not to each individual family member.
For example: If your household has 3 people and the posted limit on an item is “1,” your household may take 1 total of that item — not 1 per person.
To help ensure there is enough food available for everyone attending the distribution, posted limits must be followed. We appreciate your cooperation as we work to serve as many families as possible.

We’re expecting a great variety of food, including:

🍞Bread
🍩Sweets
🥕 Produce

🥳WE DID IT!!! OUR VAN-TASTIC VAN IS OFFICIALLY HERE! 🎉

We are SO excited to share some incredible news…

Thanks to YOU, we received the funding we needed and Grace Place has officially purchased our very own van! ❤️

What started as a goal and a whole lot of hope became a reality because this community showed up.

To every single person, organization, business, and group that donated — THANK YOU.

To everyone who shared our posts, told a friend, helped spread the word, encouraged us, or cheered us on — THANK YOU.

Every donation mattered. Every share mattered. Every person who helped us get the word out mattered.

YOU made this happen!

This van is so much more than a vehicle to us. It means fewer personal vehicles being used for food rescue. It means more room to transport rescued food safely and efficiently. It means having a reliable vehicle ready for the many pickups we make throughout the week.

Most importantly, it means more food making its way to the people in our community who can use it. ❤️

Week after week, we are out gathering and rescuing food from our incredible partners so that we're ready to welcome our community each Sunday. Now, thanks to all of you, we have a van dedicated to helping us do exactly that.

We started this campaign calling it our Van-tastic Van Fundraiser…

And today we get to say:

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! 🎉
