Anyone who knows CJ Brafford knows that she’s a true powerhouse. And luckily for us, she has shared her passion, knowledge, and leadership for three decades as director of the Ute Indian Museum. Recently at the annual conference of the industry organization American Association for State and Local History, she was recognized for her work with the prestigious Award of Excellence for Individual Lifetime Achievement! 🎉

The Colorado Magazine recently sat down with Brafford to talk about her tenure at the Ute Indian Museum and the importance of caring for the stories of Colorado’s Indigenous peoples.

We are not canceling the pow wow. We had a few sponsors who lost their funding and had to pull our pow wow funding. We are changing it from a competition pow wow to a traditional pow wow. The new flyer will be out soon.
There will be no drum contest, and we are adding lots of specials. We apologize for the changes but keeping our vow to have the pow wow. We look forward to having everyone still come out and dance with us. Loking forward to seeing everyone there. Again apologize for the changes. Next year we will back having the competition pow wow.
