It’s time for the climate movement to show up in solidarity for the movement for Palestinian liberation!
Join us and our allies on a critical mass bike ride! We will meet at Battery Park at 5pm, slow-roll through Burlington, and end at the UVM Palestine Solidarity Encampment.
The climate emergency and the genocide in Gaza are intersectional, as the United States gives billions of dollars to Israel’s polluting war machine that continues to murder innocent Palestinians by the tens of thousands. These billions could be spent on Green New Deal-style spending, ending the fossil fuel industry and providing good union jobs to millions of Americans.
The US military pumps out more greenhouse gas emissions than any other single non-country entity in the world. If it were a country, its fuel use alone would make it the 47th largest greenhouse gas emitter in the world.
Israel is also committing ecocide in Gaza, blocking access to clean water, razing farms and olive groves to the ground, and starving Palestinians.
Finally, it is the displaced and vulnerable Palestinians who will suffer the most intense effects of global heating as we approach summer in the northern hemisphere. Palestine has contributed so little to the climate crisis but will disproportionately bear the impacts of climate breakdown.
End the genocide! Free Palestine! 🇵🇸
This is a no-drop ride. Come one, come all! Rain or shine!
