Montpelier City Fire Department had a group of young men stop by and learn about the fire service. They were taught about fire safety and the importance of sleeping with your bedroom door closed. They learned about the firefighter turnout gear and were able to gear up as a firefighter. They got to go through and learn about the fire trucks and climb on them then go for a ride. The future of our volunteer fire service strongly depends on our youth.

Volunteers come in many different age groups. This is from last nights training/parking lot wash fundraiser. Montpelier City Fire Department washes parking lots as a fundraiser. These parking lot washes help the volunteers learn critical steps all the way from safely driving trucks, staging them, hooking hydrants, pump operations, and hose operations. At the same time it helps generate needed funds for equipment.

Montpelier City Fire Department teamed up with Bear Lake County Fire Department this weekend to get state certifications on our recently acquired ladder trucks. This certification and these trucks will help us to better protect our communities and help keep our volunteer firefighters safe.
