We are sharing the sad news that Dr. Leslie Matthews, formerly of the Lakes and Ponds Program, passed away last week.
Many of you knew Leslie personally - her humor, compassion, and unwavering commitment to lake protection -but you all know her work - work done over decades that benefited all of Vermont's lakes and ponds.
Not only did Leslie start the Vermont Invasive Patrollers program but she took former Lakes and Ponds Program staffer Amy Picotte's data presentation idea to fruition by creating the Lake ScoreCard, developed multiple internal data platforms for the Watershed Management Division of VTDEC, and so much more.

Vermont lakes directly benefited from her scientific excellence, public service and dedication, and her genuine love for lakes. We will share about a memorial service and other details when that information becomes available.
