The Garden at 485 Elm Inc.

The Garden at 485 Elm Inc. A community of gardeners growing food and flowers together for each other and for donation (a 501c3). In March 2014, The Garden at 485 Elm was still a lawn.

We took up the cry, "Food, not lawns!" But we weren't gardeners, so we invited community members to grow on the sunny, south-facing, well-drained area. The gardeners who appeared were inspired to grow food together. That's what we've done ever since.

Garden work party and potluck! We planted bush beans, flower seedlings, and a few more shallots. We weeded turned beds, and replaced grass sod with wood chip in walkways. We ate enjoyed each other's company and delicious food. This is community gardening! 💚💜
