Welcome to the Sustainable Montpelier Coalition. The recent Sustainable Montpelier design competition was a resounding success. It has unlocked a latent and extremely positive stream of attention, ideas and enthusiasm from the residents and commercial sector of Montpelier. More than 1,000 people and businesses actively participated in this strategic planning and agenda setting process, providing t

houghtful reactions to the concepts and designs throughout the program. The overwhelming sentiment from participants was that the redevelopment of our downtown holds great promise and must remain a priority. In order to help catalyze public interest, opportunities and private and public financing into tangible projects, we have formed a new non profit – “Sustainable Montpelier Coalition” (SMC). We hope to begin a positive shared vision and implementation process of policies and actions in the third sector of Montpelier. We are in the formative stage of building our board clarifying our focus, reaching out to the many constituencies of the Montpelier community
