Great news! The Vermont Public Utility Commission has approved the sale of Vermont Yankee to NorthStar for .

Guy Page says "Today’s decision is a tremendous opportunity for the Town of Vernon and for Vermont. After two years of regulatory negotiations, Vermont Yankee will be transferred to NorthStar for decommissioning, and Windham County can enjoy the benefits of a restored site decades ahead of the original timeline."

Since the November 2016 announcement that NorthStar intended to buy and decommission Vermont Yankee, Windham County community members have expressed understandable concern how this accelerated decommissioning will affect the community.

Today, Entergy safely completed the transfer of spent fuel at Vermont Yankee to dry cask storage. This marks a significant milestone for Vermont Yankee and establishes a strong foundation for NorthStar’s proposed decommissioning plan.
