Vermont Conservation Voters Turning your environmental values into state priorities. Political Action

VCV plays an active role in Vermont’s elections.

Founded in 1982, VCV advocates for sound environmental and conservation policies, works to elect pro-environment candidates to public office, and then holds elected officials accountable for the decisions they make affecting our air, water, open space and quality of life. Accountability

At the end of each legislative session, VCV publishes the Environmental Scorecard for the Vermont Legislature.

The scorecard is a tool for voters to use to assess the performance of their Senators and Representatives on conservation and environmental issues. VCV also publishes a gubernatorial report card that explores the governor’s efforts on behalf of Vermont’s environment. Through the recruitment and training of candidates and volunteers, endorsements and direct campaign activities, we actively promote pro-environment candidates for public office.

ACTION ALERT 📣

Yesterday, Governor Phil Scott vetoed the Data Center bill. This bill would protect Vermonters from the high costs and pollution risks of unchecked data center development. The legislature could adjourn for the year before they ever hold a vote to override the veto. We need you to call your Vermont legislators TODAY and urge them to override this veto.

UPDATE: 83-52 vote in the House; veto is sustained. Republican legislators stand with Scott's veto despite tripartisan passage of the bill.

Legislation that would ban the use of paraquat, a fast-acting and highly toxic herbicide that studies have linked to Parkinson’s disease, easily passed the Vermont House last month. But H.739 now faces a chillier reception in the Senate.
