October 20 was Community Media Day! Community Media Day is a national recognition of the power of local voices and the impact of grassroots storytelling. At ORCA Media, we believe that everyone deserves access to the tools, training, and platforms needed to share their perspectives, and our Community Producers embody that mission every day.

To mark the occasion, several of our community producers shared testimonials about why community media matters to them. From creating space for local dialogue, to amplifying underrepresented stories, to simply giving neighbors a chance to be heard. Their messages remind us why this work is so vital!

We’re deeply grateful to our producers, volunteers, staff, and viewers who make community media thrive. Here’s to another year of creativity, collaboration, and local storytelling! You can watch all of our producer testimonials on our website and YouTube. Link in Bio!

Do you want to learn more about the Central Vermont Career Center Bond Vote? You’re in luck! On September 22, community producer Richard Sheir interviewed Jody Emerson, the CVCC Superintendent and director, in ORCA Media’s Studio.

“Career Center Superintendent Jody Emerson is interviewed on Montpelier Civic Forum explaining the history of the proposal, the perceived need for the project as well as details about what the project would entail. The $150 million dollar price tag is discussed at length. This discussion is well worth watching because it frames the issue in its context. The show affords voters the opportunity to support or oppose the proposal for good reasons with their eyes wide open.” - Richard Sheir
