Congratulations to Integrated Solar, celebrating 50 years of sustainable innovation!

Integrated Solar's longevity is no surprise to anyone who has worked with them. The ISA team is second to none in knowledge, integrity, and dedication to their customers.

WOW! 50 years in business:

Brattleboro, VT – June 9, 2025 – Integrated Solar Applications (ISA), a cornerstone of renewable energy in southern Vermont, is proudly marking its 50th anniversary. Solar Applications Company was founded in Brattleboro in 1975 by electrical and mechanical engineer Alain Ratheau. Alain pioneered solar thermal, battery energy storage, small wind, and photovoltaic installations. This foundational commitment gained momentum in 2008 when Andrew Cay, an engineer and entrepreneur, acquired the company. With Alain's continued expertise, Andy rebranded the company as Integrated Solar Applications, focused on combining technologies for net-zero energy.
ISA’s strength is its team, with extensive critical expertise in energy, building science, construction and business. Renewable energy expertise includes solar PV, battery energy storage, thermal, air source heat pumps, and ground-source geothermal. As market trends evolved, ISA became the leading photovoltaic installer in the area. The company has undertaken significant commercial and utility-scale projects, such as the 2.5 MW array between Exits 2 and 3 of Brattleboro and a 5.7 MW array at the Brattleboro Landfill. Katrina Wilson, Vice President at ISA, states “our dedicated and capable people with a great attitude and strong customer focus make the difference.”
Andrew Cay sees significant opportunity: “Integrated Solar has seen more advancement and change in the renewable energy industry in the last 15 years than the previous 35. Rapid growth has led to broad market acceptance, with a global market projected to reach $2.5 trillion by 2032. The stability of government support is vital for continued growth; the technology is sound and the economics work. Our collective choices will determine our future. I have hope.”
Alain Ratheau says, "In the early days, we focused on solar hot water and off-grid battery systems. Solar power gained attention in the 70s, stalled, then restarted in earnest in 2009. Lithium batteries began to migrate from power tools to EVs, and by 2016, when Tesla’s first lithium-ion battery Gigafactory was completed, the race for new battery technologies was on. Now these integrated technologies are rapidly advancing solar energy capacity.”
To celebrate five decades of powering a greener Vermont, ISA is offering a $500 discount for the first 50 customers who sign a contract and have a system installed. Customers should bring a copy of this press release to obtain their discount.

Thank you Senator Thomas Chittenden for your continued support for Vermont's Renewable Energy Standard! Moving toward 100% renewable energy - with more power coming from within Vermont - made sense last spring and makes sense today.

01/29/2025

In his budget address to the Vermont General Assembly, Governor Scott stated, "We also propose changes to last year's Renewable Energy Standard, taking a common sense approach to reduce the cost to taxpayers."

Vermont’s updated Renewable Energy Standard was balanced to meet Vermonters' needs for affordable, reliable, renewable energy.

New renewables like wind, hydro, and solar power are now cheaper to build than new climate change-causing natural gas, coal, and oil plants. This was the primary impetus behind updating Vermont’s RES and the reason the update received strong support from the business community, environmental advocates, and Vermont utilities.

We look forward to learning more about the Governor’s concerns and welcome Legislative testimony on them.

Offshore wind has enormous potential to provide abundant clean energy and create tens of thousands of skilled jobs. It has a very important role to play in getting Vermont to a 100% renewable energy future. That's why REV is proud to be a part of New England for Offshore Wind.

How big is the Renewable Energy Standard update passed by the Vermont House and Senate?

"The measure would make Vermont one of the only states with a legislative commitment to the Biden administration’s stated goal of building a carbon-free power grid by 2035."

Pretty darn big.

Great work by Speaker Speaker Jill Krowinski and Pro Tem Baruth getting this over the finish line.

The state’s Senate approved the measure this week, putting Vermont on track to be among the first states to fully decarbonize its power grid.

Big news! The Vermont Senate just passed H.289 - a transformative bill that would put us on track to get to 100% by 2035 while quadrupling the share of our power coming from new renewables.

Thanks to House Speaker Jill Krowinski and Senate President Pro Tem Phil Baruth for their extraordinary leadership on this issue. They set the tone on updating the Renewable Energy Standard from the start and never waivered in their commitment to getting us to 100% renewable electricity.

Urge Phil Scott to sign it into law without delay: https://governor.vermont.gov/contact

The House Committee on Environment and Energy voted 11-0 to require a ratepayer assistance study as part of S.305. This study will look for avenues to limit the energy burden for low-income Vermonters. Thanks to Reps Gabrielle Stebbins, Kate Logan, and Dara Torre for their leadership to ensure all Vermonters can benefit from electrification.

The House Committee on Environment and Energy has been extremely effective at moving important climate and energy priorities this year passing an update to Vermont's Renewable Energy Standard (H.289) and taking up the "Make Big Oil Pay" bill (S.259) later this week in addition to ratepayer assistance.
