Iowa Lions This is the Official Iowa Lions Facebook site. Since that time Lions all over the world have worked in the areas of sight and hearing.

The Iowa Lions are a part of Lions Clubs International which is a volunteer organization dedicated to leadership development through community service. In 1924 Helen Keller challenged the fledgling Lions Association to be "Knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." Through the Iowa Lions Foundation, we work with many agencies to fulfill our motto..."We Serve." Our signs are located on

the city limits, you see the notices about pancake breakfasts and fish frys, and maybe your local city park or ball field has some work done by us, but what do we REALLY do here in Iowa? We are proud to say that our efforts and funds we raise go to many very worthwhile organizations focused on making life better for those who may not have the abilities or means to do so themselves. It is with great sadness that we report the death of Past International Director Delmar "Del" Brown, who died in his home on May 20, 2026. Del served a 2-year term as international director of Lions Clubs International from 2002-2004. He was district governor of District 9X9 and was council chair of Multiple District 9 from 1997-1998. He was the recipient of the GE Bud Klise Service Award in 1999.

Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at The Congregational United Church of Christ (30 N. Clinton Street) in Iowa City. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
