We are a local non-profit, selective intake, animal shelter in Monticello, Fl located in Jefferson County, Florida. All funds raised go to support the animals, providing shelter, food, medical care and love. All our volunteers are committed to helping the animals in our community by providing service to the public through education, various fund raising events, animal awareness programs, rescue an

d adoption programs. Wag the Dog Thrift & Treasure Shop
Located at 315 North Jefferson Street in Monticello. Please donate gently used items during operating hours, All proceeds benefit the animals at the shelter. Monetary donations can be sent to the shelter at:

Items needed at the shelter:
*Collars and Leashes
*Dog and Cat Treats
•Baby receiving blankets
•Cleaning supplies, paper towels, dawn liquid detergent.
* KMR (kitten milk replacer)
•Animal crates (all sizes)
*Animal Transport carriers (for cats & Small dogs)
•Animal toys ( Cat & Dog)
•Heavy duty garden hoses


Volunteers are always welcome at the shelter and Wag the Dog thrift store. You can help by walking dogs, petting cats, cleaning, and general maintenance at the shelter. At the thrift shop, volunteers help organize, clean and sort donated goods. Every animal benefits when you volunteer your time. Current Board Members:

As we celebrate the upcoming 75th Watermelon Festival, we’re highlighting some of our wonderful adoptable animals who are hoping this summer brings them a forever home!

Today’s featured resident is Ginger 🍉🧡

Ginger is a beautiful 2-year-old Manx cat with a gentle soul. When she first arrived at Wolf Creek, she had never known life outside of a kennel. The world was a scary place, and trusting people didn’t come easy. But with patience, kindness, and time, Ginger has blossomed into a sweet girl who enjoys the simple things in life.

☀️ Loves relaxing on the screened porch in the mornings
💕 Enjoys chin rubs and affection from people she trusts
🐾 Expert biscuit maker
🧡 Looking for a patient family willing to let her settle in at her own pace

Ginger isn’t asking for much—just a chance. A quiet home, a little patience, and a lot of love. In return, you’ll get the joy of watching a shy cat learn what it feels like to truly belong.

PLEASE SHARE! SHARE! SHARE! We need you!

Today we were able to get a 5 oz bottle baby the help it needs! We supplied milk, p*e pads, a heating pad, and anything we could to ensure its survival, while the foster home is giving this kitten the love and 24/7 care it needs. We want to give a huge thank you to our foster for stepping up so quickly to help save a life. This baby's journey is just starting and any help you can spare is much appreciated.
Any money donated will go directly to vaccines, deworming, and crucial medical care. The need is more than ever in our community and additional supplies can be the difference between life and death. Today thanks to a donation we received of formula for the extremely young kittens, a life was saved.

As we count down to the 75th Watermelon Festival, we’re continuing our watermelon-themed spotlight on some of our amazing adoptable animals!

Today’s featured pup is ☀️ Sunny ☀️ — and just like a perfect summer day, he’s impossible to ignore!

Sunny is full of life, fun, and personality. This energetic boy has been waiting patiently for his forever home, and we’re hoping his watermelon spotlight helps him find it. He would love an active family that can keep up with his adventurous spirit and give him plenty of room to run, play, and be his happy self.

☀️ Great with kids and adventurous
🐶 Neutered and vaccinated
🐾 Does well with most dogs (meet-and-greet recommended)
🐱 Not aggressive with cats, but due to his high-energy play style, a home with dog-savvy cats who are comfortable around active dogs would be best
