Today we commemorate the 82nd anniversary of D-Day. We honor the bravery and sacrifice of the Allied troops on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944, a day that forever changed the course of history. May we never forget their courage and heroism.

Congratulations to Bement CUSD 5 Senior Will Fuson who was selected as this year's recipient of our "Sgt. Newton 'Ray' Plummer Memorial Scholarship".

The Plummer Scholarship is awarded in memory of Bement native, BHS Class of 1966 alum, and Army Sergeant Newton "Ray" Plummer, who was killed in action in Vietnam on December 1, 1968, after he volunteered for a patrol just days before he was set to come home.

The Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating Bement High School senior who demonstrates leadership, service, and high academic achievement.
