Towels on Towels on Towels! - Camp Courageous would like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who generously donated bath towels and paper towels during our recent donation drive.

You ALL have completely overwhelmed us with your generosity! Wrapping Camp in your love like a warm towel straight out of the dryer!

Your kindness and generosity has already made a real difference for our campers. These everyday essentials are used throughout camp to help provide a welcoming and comfortable experience for everyone who visits.

We are truly grateful to our supporters for coming together and supporting Camp Courageous. Every donation, big or small, helps us continue creating meaningful experiences for our campers. From all of us at Camp Courageous – thank you for helping make camp a special place, we truly couldn’t do it without you!

REM-Iowa Campers give back to Camp Courageous! - There’s something pretty special about friends helping friends!

Camp Courageous recently welcomed a wonderful delivery from REM-Iowa of Dubuque, where campers Helen, Jenny and Dawn, along with Program Supervisor Brittany, stopped by Camp with a BIG donation of everyday supplies!

From medical and personal care items to paper towels, hand soap, cleaning supplies, laundry baskets and more — these are the kinds of items that get used every single day at Camp and make a bigger difference than you might think.

This donation was made possible through REM-Iowa’s Community Outreach funds, which give the individuals they serve an opportunity to give back and support other organizations in their community.

Making this connection even more special is April Kamm, Program Supervisor with REM-Iowa of Dubuque, who also serves as a member of the Camp Courageous Medical Team. April isn’t pictured, but Camp is lucky to have her as part of the Camp family!

A HUGE Camp Courageous thank you to REM-Iowa of Dubuque, April, Brittany, Helen, Jenny and Dawn for thinking of Camp and arriving with such a generous delivery. It takes a lot of everyday items to keep Camp running year-round — and friends like these help make it all possible!

Camp Courageous Supporter & Advocate, Gary Kruse, Passes -

Camp Courageous is saddened by the passing of Gary Kruse, 76 of Dubuque. Gary accompanied his mother, Kathleen, to Camp Courageous for decades with carloads of needed items. Along with Camp, Gary was a strong supporter of the VFW 508 Auxiliary. Camp’s sympathy goes out to Gary’s family and friends.

Eilertson’s Comes Through Again for Camp Courageous! - Eilertson’s has come through once again for Camp Courageous!
A few years ago, when Camp needed help with the construction of the new zipline, Eilertson’s stepped up in a huge way. Their team helped reinforce the zipline structure from the foundation up, donating their time, talent, equipment and a little bit of sweat along the way!
This time, Eilertson’s has generously donated a John Deere Gator in mint condition to Camp. It will be put to good use by the Maintenance team and volunteers, helping with projects, hauling supplies, maintaining trails and all of the everyday work that goes into keeping Camp’s facilities and grounds exceptional.
A big thank you to Eilertson’s and owner Butch Krug for once again thinking of Camp Courageous and finding a way to help. Camp is incredibly fortunate to have longtime friends and supporters who continue to step up when there is a need.
Thank you, Eilertson’s!

Today kicked off the first day of Fruitcake making at Camp Courageous!

A huge thank you to the amazing volunteers who spent the day getting a little sticky for a great cause! Your time, energy, and willingness to jump in help make this annual tradition possible.

A special thank you to Rose Acre Farms for generously donating the eggs for this year’s Fruitcakes, helping Camp raise even more through this annual fundraiser!

And thank you to Stutsmans for spending an afternoon back in July helping us prepare and assemble boxes so we were ready to hit the ground running this week.

It truly takes a community to make thousands of Fruitcakes—and Camp Courageous is so grateful for everyone who helps make it happen!

Camper Jimmy Gibney’s Dad Dies, Jerry Gibney, With Memorials To Camp Courageous. - It was a treat to have Jimmy Gibney stop by Camp Courageous to personally deliver memorials from his dad, Jerold “Jerry” Gibney, 72, of Palo, Iowa. Camp’s sympathy goes out to Jerry’s family & friends. Jimmy wished for his dad’s memorials to go to provide camperships for campers, along with a t-shirt and some goodies for those campers…just like his old days of coming to Camp Courageous. Jimmy raises money the year-round for Camp Courageous!

You can see Jimmy at this year’s Pineapple Gala, Friday August 21st , 6 PM at the DoubleTree in downtown Cedar Rapids. Jimmy has a basket full of his favorite things, that will be the first live auction item! We are all excited for Jimmy and a super evening!

The family was desirous to have Jerry’s memorials go to Camp Courageous. (www.campcourageous.org/donate)
