We’ve been sitting on a secret tourism promotion for Downtown Monticello, and frankly, it’s exhausting.

Do you know how hard it is to be this nosy and not spill the details?

For now, all we can say is this: visitors are going to love it, locals are going to want in on it, and your favorite downtown businesses are getting ready for some fun.

Friends, we have some GREAT NEWS to share — a NEW BOOKSHOP is coming to the square in Monticello THIS FALL!! Longtime Hartfield bookseller (and the voice behind our social media) Dawn Stahl, her husband Karl, and their good neighbors (and ours) Kevin and Brooke Feeney are teaming up to bring it to life, with booksellers Sara and Benjie coming back to help. How perfect is that?! We're already super fans and trust that you will be, too!

Stay tuned for updates. We're turning the space (and the social media accounts) over to them soon and can't wait to see what they do with it!!

After 40 years of serving Monticello, Wintersteen, DDS is officially retiring! 💙

Known for his goofy sense of humor and huge heart for the community, Dr. Wintersteen has made a lasting impact both in and out of the office. As a dedicated volunteer and supporter of downtown, we at Monticello Main Street are incredibly grateful for all he’s done over the years.

Downtown just got a little more caffeinated and a whole lot cooler..
We’re so excited to welcome Blend & Brew to the Monticello Main Street District, which opened yesterday at 309 N. Market Street (former Hardee's location). Owners Vaishali & Nish gave the building interior a HUGE glow-up - Be sure to stop by, say hello, and support another awesome local business bringing more energy into our downtown!

It’s National Public Works Week, and we truly couldn’t do all the things we do without the support of Mayor Stoner and the of Monticello, Illinois Government Public Works Department. From parklet installation to keeping our streets clean and looking their best, their attention to detail helps keep our downtown district running smoothly—and looking good while doing it.
