Lawrence County Historical Society Preserving yesterday, today, for tomorrow! The Lawrence County Historical Society meeting time and dates will be posted to this page.

Regular meetings are held in September, November, January, March, and May. All meetings are on the second Monday of the designated months, at 6:00 p.m., at the Civic Center in Monticello.

At noon on Wednesday, July 1, Brother Rogers, retired historian for MDAH, will present his recent 'Journal of Mississippi History' article, “Lafayette Visits Mississippi as the ‘Guest of the Nation,’” for at the Museum of Mississippi History and Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. In connection with America250, Rogers examines the Marquis de Lafayette’s 1825 visit to Natchez during his farewell tour, highlighting his role as a Revolutionary War hero. This free event will also stream live on the MDAH page and YouTube channel.
