In October, we're learning more about pumpkins! You may already know that Illinois is home to the Pumpkin Capital of the World! That's right-Morton, Illinois in Tazwell County grows the most pumpkins in the United States. In fact, 85% of the world's canned pumpkin is processed right at the Libby's Plant in Morton!

And while a large percentage of the pumpkins grown in Illinois are for processing, there are many U-pick pumpkin patches around! But how do farmers get the pumpkins from the field to the front of the patch? Have students design a pumpkin catapult that will help them easily get their pumpkins into the wagon for transportation!
