Article: https://thewatchmn.com/2026/05/09/man-accused-of-driving-toward-high-school-with-loaded-gun-to-make-staff-pay-maple-lake/

📍 At about 4:47 p.m. on May 7, 2026, Wright County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported gun-related threat in Maple Lake.

A woman reported that TRENT DAVIS SUTTER had become angry about an employment matter involving her employer, Maple Lake Public Schools, according to the complaint.

Trent allegedly retrieved a fi***rm and said he was going to the school to make the superintendent and principal "pay." As he left, he reportedly said he was "done."

📍 While driving toward the school, Trent spoke with the woman on the phone and allegedly said he intended to shoot somebody and drive his vehicle into the high school building.

📍 A deputy located Trent's vehicle and stopped it about one block from Maple Lake High School.

Deputies found a pistol magazine in his pants pocket and a R***r P89 pistol under the driver's seat, along with another loaded magazine. Trent did not have a permit to carry the pistol. ‼️

📍 On Sept. 4, 2026, Trent pleaded guilty to felony threats of violence and gross misdemeanor carrying a pistol without a permit in a public place. The same day, he pleaded guilty in a second Wright County case, in which he was convicted of felony threats of violence and a second-degree assault charge was dismissed.

📍 At sentencing on Oct. 6, 2026, Trent was convicted on the pistol count, and the court stayed adjudication on the threats count, meaning no conviction is entered on it if he completes probation. On the pistol count, he received 364 days in the Wright County Jail, all stayed for two years, leaving no jail time to serve. He was placed on probation through Oct. 6, 2031, with conditions including no contact with a school district's properties or employees and no use or possession of fi***rms.
