Twenty-five years ago, on September 11, 2001, our nation experienced an attack that forever changed America. Nearly 3,000 lives were lost. Families were forever changed, communities grieved, and our collective sense of security was shaken. Yet amid unimaginable tragedy, the world also witnessed something extraordinary: the strength, courage, compassion, and resilience of American people.
As we commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, we pause to remember those who ran toward danger to save others, the families who continue to carry the weight of that day, and the countless men and women whose service in the years that followed was shaped by a renewed commitment to protecting our nation and its people.
We also remember what happened in the days and months afterward. Americans stood together. September 11th reminds us that public safety is interconnected. Law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical professionals, dispatchers, military personnel, correctional professionals, health care providers, chaplains, civilian staff, and countless others each contributed to the safety and resilience of our communities. Our roles may differ, but our commitment to serve binds us together.
