🎓✨ L.E.A.D. Scholars are on the move and reaching higher heights!
At L.E.A.D. Academy, we believe exposure creates opportunity. When our scholars are given the chance to step outside the classroom, experience new environments, and see what is possible for their futures, we are helping them envision and prepare for what comes next.
Recently, 15 of our Senior Scholars traveled to Birmingham for a college tour of Miles College, where they had an opportunity to explore campus life and learn more about the possibilities available to them after graduation all during the excitement of Homecoming Week!
Our seniors were accompanied by our Career Coach Ms. Brewer, Mrs. Perryman, Coach Peterson, Dr. Cleveland, and Ms. Holmes. We extend a special thank-you to Miles College for welcoming our scholars, as well as Dr. McClung, Mrs. Hodrick, our L.E.A.D.ers, and Central Office staff for continuing to recognize the importance of providing meaningful exposure and experiences for our students.
And our scholars weren’t the only ones expanding their horizons! Our Junior High scholars attended the Alabama Democratic Conference alongside Board Vice Chair Janice Lawson and FTO President and Music Teacher Mr. Caldwell, who also delivered an amazing singing performance. Scholars also had the opportunity to capture the moment with U.S. Rep. Shomari Figures and State Rep. Phillip Ensler.
These experiences represent what education can look like when schools, families, community leaders, colleges, and partners work together. Every tour, connection, and new experience helps our scholars see a future filled with possibilities.
At L.E.A.D. Academy, we aren’t simply preparing scholars to graduate, we’re preparing them to confidently take their next steps into college, careers, leadership, and their communities.
