A heartfelt thank-you to The Knights and Orchids Society Inc. TKO and TC Caldwell for their generous $500 donation in support of Friendsgiving at The Sanctuary and in honor of Kaitoria Bankz.

Our hope is simple: that no one spends Thanksgiving alone wishing they had somewhere to go. This gift helps us welcome our neighbors to a table where they can share a meal, find connection, and feel like they belong.

The holidays can be especially tender for members of our LGBTQ+ community and anyone experiencing estrangement, loss, or loneliness. Support like this helps us make room for one another.

Thank you, TKO Society and TC Caldwell, for helping bring this gathering to life and putting care for our community into action.

Today is International Pronouns Day! 💜

At The Sanctuary, we want everyone who walks through our doors to feel seen, welcomed, and respected. Using someone’s pronouns is one everyday way we put that care into practice.

You don’t have to understand every part of someone’s experience to honor who they are. You can listen, learn, and believe them when they tell you how they want to be addressed.

A few simple ways to show care:
💜 Use the name and pronouns someone shares with you.
💜 Share your own pronouns if you’re comfortable, while leaving others free to choose whether to share theirs.
💜 If you make a mistake, briefly apologize, correct yourself, and keep trying.

To our trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive neighbors: you deserve respect, joy, and spaces where you can be yourself. You belong here.

Some fandoms memorize the movie. Rocky Horror fans decided to become part of it. 💋

As its midnight following grew, audiences developed callbacks, costumes, props, and “shadow casts”—fans performing along with the film in front of the screen.

People who might have felt overlooked elsewhere could step into the spotlight, make something, and help shape the night.

That’s a huge part of Rocky Horror’s cult legacy: fans turned a screening into a creative community with its own rituals.

A little theatrical chaos. A lot of commitment. An impressive amount of eyeliner. 🖤

Before the group chat, there was the midnight movie. 💋

Rocky Horror’s fan community took shape long before social media could help you find the other q***r kids, theatre people, horror lovers, and gloriously unconventional humans in your town.

In 1977, Sal Piro and fellow audience participants from New York’s Waverly Theatre started the Rocky Horror Picture Show Fan Club. Fans built connections around a shared obsession—and helped carry the experience far beyond one theatre.

Imagine finding your people because you all knew when to yell at the same movie.

Honestly? A pretty solid foundation for friendship. 🖤

“I’m just going to a movie.”

For some LGBTQ+ Rocky Horror fans, those words offered a little privacy while they found their people. 🖤

As midnight screenings grew in the 1970s, Rocky Horror became a gathering place where people could explore gender expression, sexuality, and community without having to explain everything to the world outside.

You could buy a ticket to a strange little movie and discover a room full of possibilities.

That history is part of what we’re celebrating this Halloween. The fishnets are fabulous. Having somewhere to belong? That matters.
