Day 2 of the 2026 SkillsUSA Team Works competition is underway, uniting High School Career Tech students statewide from Alabama in a showcase of collaborative skills and expertise across Carpentry, Masonry, Electrical, and Plumbing trades as they build a project.

AHBF Executive Director is at the Inaugural Alabama SkillsUSA Team Works competition. Seven teams from around the state are competing in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and masonry. Top finisher moves on the national competition in Atlanta. Check out the YouTube feed for a live look in at the competition. It will go until 6:30pm tonight and start back Thursday morning at 7 am. The Alabama Home Builders Foundation is proud to sponsor the Alabama SkillsUSA State Competition, taking place this week at the BJCC in Birmingham. Foundation Executive Director Kory Boling provided us with a few sights and sounds from the carpentry competition, which began this morning.

A huge thank you to the men and women serving on our Alabama Home Builders Foundation Scholarship Committee who came to Montgomery last week to review this year's scholarship applications. They selected 72 students from across the state to receive scholarships from the Foundation this year, with a total of $68,500 being awarded!

Since it first began awarding scholarships in 1997, the Foundation has presented over $990,000 in scholarship funds to students throughout Alabama studying the building trades and preparing to enter the home building industry.

These scholarships would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of the Foundation Directors and the generous support of all who participate in the Foundation's annual golf classic or who make donations to the Foundation throughout the year. Thank you for investing in our future homebuilding workforce!

This year, the Alabama Home Builders Foundation awarded scholarships to 70 students across the state to help them further their education as they prepare for careers in the home building industry.

Several of our members have graciously volunteered their time this spring to present scholarships at high school awards days, including Pheza Sumners of the Lee County Home Builders Association, who serves as on the board of the Foundation and recently presented Samuel Kemp with a Foundation scholarship at Opelika High School.

We thank our members for their time and commitment to the future of our building industry, and we congratulate these deserving students!

As the school year draws to an end, it's a special time to celebrate the achievements of many students across the state, including our 2025 recipients of scholarships from the Alabama Home Builders Foundation.

Last week, Darren Osborn of the Greater Morgan County Builders Association presented a scholarship on behalf of the Foundation to Ford Shelton, a graduating senior at Hartselle High School.

Yesterday, the Alabama Home Builders Foundation's scholarship committee met to review and discuss applications for our 2025 scholarships.

After much deliberation, the committee decided to award scholarships totaling $52,000 to 70 students across Alabama to help them pursue their education in the residential building trades!

We thank our scholarship committee members who volunteer their time to serve on this committee, and we congratulate our newest scholarship recipients!
