INFORMATIONAL LETTER TO GEORGIA VOTERS

Understanding the 2026 Georgia Primary Ballot Questions

Dear Georgia Voters,

As citizens prepare to participate in the upcoming Georgia Primary Election on May 19, 2026, The Voter Empowerment Collaboration encourages every voter to become informed before entering the voting booth.

In Georgia, voters select either a Democratic, Republican, or Nonpartisan ballot during the primary election. Depending on the ballot selected, voters may also be asked to answer party advisory questions. These questions are nonbinding and do not create laws, but they are used by political parties to gauge voter opinion on key political and social issues.

Please note:

* Voters choosing a Democratic ballot will receive Democratic Party advisory questions.
* Voters choosing a Republican ballot will receive Republican Party advisory questions.
* Voters choosing a Nonpartisan ballot will not receive party advisory questions.

Georgia to Cancel Nearly 500,000 Inactive Voter Registrations

Georgia’s Secretary of State has launched one of the largest voter registration cancellations in U.S. history, with 478,000 inactive registrations now set for removal unless action is taken by voters within 40 days.

This routine “post-election cleanup” targets voters who appear to have:

Registered or obtained a driver’s license in another state (180,000 people)

Not voted or contacted election offices in 10+ years (106,000)

Had election mail returned as undeliverable (105,000)

Changed their address per U.S. Postal Service data (87,000)

The majority of the planned removals are tied to Georgia’s participation in ERIC, a multi-state partnership that helps track voter registration changes across state lines.

Most impacted counties: Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, and Gwinnett — areas with higher mobility and population density.

Demographic impact:
According to an AJC analysis, Black voters represent 32% of cancellations, slightly higher than their 31% share of total registrants. White voters represent 45% of cancellations, compared to 51% of all Georgia voters.

State officials say the cleanup enhances list accuracy and election integrity.
Critics warn that legitimate voters who haven’t moved could be removed without realizing it — especially those who haven’t voted in recent cycles.

Take Action
If you received a notice in the mail — or haven’t voted recently — check your registration immediately.
Georgia voters must be registered at least 29 days before any election to vote.

Federal Education Funding Freeze Threatens Georgia After-School Programs

More than $200 million in federal education grants meant to support after-school and summer enrichment programs across Georgia are currently on hold — leaving many students, families, and providers uncertain about the upcoming school year.

Programs impacted include those at Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCAs, and public schools in high-need areas. Without resolution, some may be forced to shut down within weeks, affecting hundreds of youth in Metro Atlanta and beyond.

60th Anniversary of “BLOODY SUNDAY”

Join us for a historic pilgrimage to Selma, Alabama, as we commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery March and the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Participants will walk the same path as the foot soldiers of the Civil Rights Movement. The day will also include a visit to the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, which traces the history of racial injustice in America.

This is an opportunity to engage deeply with African American history, reflect on the ongoing fight for civil rights, and ensure the legacy of those who marched before us is never forgotten.
