The Bed of the Week Brick Award goes to new gardener Marcia!

A raised bed lease came open and she jumped immediately on the opportunity. A big fall crop of collard greens is planted already. She was super helpful at the Sunday work event and we look forward to many months of gardening together. Bravo! 👏

Work day!! Oh boy was there a lot to do. We were working so hard on Sunday afternoon that photos are few. We finally decided to call the remaining group together after the first gardeners had to leave. We got the trim stained on the raised beds, weeded, trimmed branches, swept, and cleaned up after all of the Hurricane Isaias debris.

More to do…but for today, we will celebrate the togetherness and community building. 💚💚

Alabama is cleaning up damage and debris from Hurricane Isaias this weekend—and unfortunately the Old Cloverdale Community Garden in Montgomery did not escape unharmed. A large branch hit the shed and also damaged the fence with our beautiful Sunny Paulk mural.

Volunteers will on site this afternoon (Sunday) from 2-4 PM if you are available or if you can help with a small donation for repairs we’d appreciate it.

The Carolina Wren was another exquisitely photographed bird discovered by visiting photographer Ken Hare at the Old Cloverdale Community Garden. He described the location as a little urban oasis and we couldn’t agree more! 💚

Neighbors, gardeners, new & old friends of the garden, please join us for a community workday to help stain the wood trim on our raised garden beds. No experience needed. We are sprucing up for our November 7th Children’s Storytime! event

We had an adventure this weekend as bird watchers visited, photographed, and applauded our “little oasis” as a great spot for urban birding. Thank you Ken Hare for visiting and sharing your photos.

It’s rainy this Sunday! But that’s great news to all the community gardeners who started fall plants last week. We chatted with Cole (pictured) as he checked on his collards, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and mustard greens. Well done Cole! 💚👏👏👏
