Join us for our next meeting and program on Tuesday, June 2nd at 6:30 pm!

The program that evening will be presented by Dr. Scott Mathias of UPMC Williamsport, who will discuss topics related to strokes and stroke prevention. As always, the public is invited to attend this meeting/program beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Grange Hall.

Dr. Mathias received his training at Penn State University, as well as at several Florida schools, and completed clinical internships in Virginia, Texas and Florida. His presentation will give a non-technical illustrated overview about this common medical condition in easy-to-understand layperson’s explanations. The program will provide basic background about different types of strokes, risk factors, stroke assessment, the importance of “white matter”, treatments and prevention.

Everyone is invited to bring a favorite snack – sweet or savory – to share.

Join us for our next meeting and program next Tuesday, May 5th at 6:30 pm!

Iva Kressler of Bloomsburg, retired after 36 years as a registered
nurse, keeps busy learning new things. “My attitude is 'one is never too old to learn something new,'” she says as she prepares to give a demonstration on bobbin lace making at the next Grange meeting on Tuesday, May 5th.

Growing up on a small farm as one of six children, she started doing needlework when she was 8 years old and by 13, she could knit and sew. Her maternal grandmother taught her to tat with a shuttle and from there went on to do counted cross stitch, quilting and PA Dutch crewel work. Most recently she learned to do strap weaving.

She now shares these traditional crafts with audiences as a costumed reenactor demonstrating and teaching the arts and crafts done by women in colonial America. The Grange’s program coordinator met her at the Bloomsburg Fair where she was demonstrating in the historic Barton House.

As always, this program is open to the community. We hope to see you then!
