Team Row Tide is the 2012 Iron Paddle Winner and the 2011 Grand Champion of the Montgomery Dragon Boat Race & Festival. This motley crew of University of Alabama alumni, friends and Montgomery Red Elephant Club members overcame long odds in 2011 by defeating U.S. Air Force officers, local police and firefighters to take home the top prize in the city's second annual dragon boat race. ddles were hot once again in 2012, defeating rival team Oar Eagle in the Battle for the Iron Paddle and making it back to the Grand Championship final. But Row Tide's efforts aren't for glory alone. All dragon boat teams raise money for Bridge Builders® Alabama and Rebuilding Together® Central Alabama, two local organizations doing good work in the River Region. In 2012, Row Tide won the Distinguished Dragon Award for raising more than $7,000 for these organizations. Great job Row Tide!!! We reclaimed the Iron Paddle and placed 1st in our division with a time of 1:15. Next year we will shoot for 1:08-1:10 range and reclaim the Grand Championship. Thank you all for all your hardwork. Thank you sponsors for making this happen!!! Roll Tide!!!
