It Starts With One; Kids Can Volunteer, 2 To promote youth volunteerism by planning youth service projects and through our 1-4-1 Youth Partnership Leadership & Volunteer Development Program

In 2014, It Starts with 1 implemented its 1-4-1 Youth Partnership which is a 10-month long leadership and volunteer development program for 4th - 8th grade students. The goal is to develop strong leadership traits in tweens and actually teach them how to plan and implement volunteer projects. The youth partnership then does two group leadership projects a year. Upon their graduation from the progr

It's been a busy day but I couldn't let it pass without sending out a huge thank you to Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange for recognizing my work with my platform, Hiding In Plain Sight- and proclaiming February as Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month in the City of Montgomery. I am so blessed to have such great community support.

The 5th Annual "Stuff the Bus" is back!
River Region residents are invited to bring school supplies to your local Walmart and Target stores to literally "Stuff the Bus" for area school children.
Twenty volunteers are needed at each of the locations listed below to help load and sort supplies. 4-hour and all day shifts are available on Friday, August 5th 7am to 7pm and Saturday, August 6th 7am to 7pm.
Each volunteer will receive a FREE T-SHIRT BREAKFAST AND LUNCH!

Renascence PingPongforCHARITY™ on August 12 & 13
Join in the fun on August 12 and 13 by registering to play in an amateur ping pong tournament to benefit Renascence.
Friday, August 12 starts with a Preview Party and Celebrity Slamfest from 6pm to 9pm at the Crump Senior Center, 1750 Congressman Dickinson Drive. Saturday, August 13 is the main event with play from 9am to 4pm also held at the Crump Senior Center. Registrants can compete in Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced competition categories.
Entry fees are $10/player for individuals under 18 years of age and $20/player for those 18 years of age or older. Registration must be completed and fees paid online by August 1, 2016. Go HERE for tickets and further information.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY FOR AGES 13 and UP: The Montgomery Zoo's annual fundraiser, Zoo Weekend, is fast approaching, and hundreds of volunteers are needed to ensure this event is a success. Consider offering a few hours of your time with our four-legged friends at one of the city's top attractions.

Event Time/Date: Sat & Sun, March 12 & 13, 2016 / 8:00 - 6:30
Mission/Purpose of Event: Annual Fundraiser for the Montgomery Zoo
Arrival Times of Volunteers: First Shift 8:00 - 2:00 | Second Shift 1:00 - 6:30
Age Requirements/Restrictions: 13 Years or Older (Anyone under the age of 16 must have a parent or legal guardian volunteer with them)
Number of Volunteers Requested: 160 volunteers are needed for each day
Duties/Tasks: Running kids games, bouncy houses & slides, face painting, loading & unloading the train & skylift, wristband checker at zoo gate, cleaning tables under tent, helping at the Giraffe Encounter, monitoring Parakeet Cove & working the Gift shop Sales Tent
