Arthur's Pet Pantry Arthur's Pet Pantry, a 501(c)(3) charity for helping feed pets in need. Initially named Crippled, he became a neighborhood cat. He went everywhere around town.

About Us

The Beginning

Arthur's Pet Pantry is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity helping supplement feeding pets in need. The pantry was founded in 2011 by Cindy McEvoy and in 2014, when McEvoy stepped down, it was taken over by Abigail Erdley. It is currently being run by her mother Sue Straub, family, and friends.

Who was Arthur?
​
At one time an abandoned but personable cat showed up in Mifflinbu

rg. He lived with a family for a while, but they moved, and he kept coming back to Mifflinburg where he stayed with an old guy who lived near the cemetery. When he died, Arthur came to his sale and to Christkindle. He became such a town character that he was dubbed Sir Arthur and became known as the Cat Mayor of Mifflinburg.

Arthur passed away in 2011.

Cindy McEvoy asked her friends what could they do to help pets before they wind up in the shelter system? The answer was to help families having financial difficulties to feed their pets. So, in 2011 the pet food bank was born.

The mission continues to be providing supplemental pet food to people for their pets who might otherwise not be able to afford it. And to help pets stay with their families and out of the shelter system. We can not do this without the support from the community. Thank you!

We had a great time this morning in Sunbury. Don't forget we can personalize a tumbler or cutting board for you as one of our fundraising events. We helped 104 families today at our distributions in Northumberland 190 dogs and 197 cats 2 guinea pigs. Remember July's distribution will be a week later because of the holiday. So distribution will be July 11th.

People ask why we don't meet people who are in need of pet food and are not able to make a distribution. Well we traveled to Mifflinburg to meet someone who says their car doesn't run and is in need. We drive over to the meet site wait an hour and they don't show up.
This is the 4th time in three months that someone says they are out of pet food and can't come to distribution.
Sorry to say we will no longer travel to meet someone in need. They either come to a distribution or make an appointment and come to our Milton shed.
