The World Health Organization (WHO) today released new guidance to help countries adopt and expand midwifery models of care - where midwives serve as the main care provider for women and babies throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period.

This important bill strengthens the State Board of Midwifery by allowing it to accept gifts and grants, and it updates the board's membership and duties to better support safe, high-quality birthing choices across our state.
We want to see HB128 move forward in the Senate without harmful amendments—keeping it strong for Alabama families who deserve informed, respectful maternity care.
