Welcoming Alabama

Welcoming Alabama Welcoming Alabama is a campaign designed to shift the immigration dialogue away from policy and focu When people start talking, they relate.

Welcoming Alabama is a campaign designed to shift the immigration dialogue away from policy and focus on the common, core values shared by various cultures. It is not political, it is social and directed towards a positive civic integration of communities. We promote respectful dialogue, by providing a safe space to explore perceptions and philosophies between individuals of varying ethnicities an

d traditions. The ultimate goal, of Welcoming Alabama and our 17 affiliates across the nation, is to strengthen the social fabric of Alabama by helping strangers become neighbors through dialogue and mutual respect. When we begin to talk, we can appreciate the true impact of de-humanizing language and attitudes against those of us who are different. When we share conversations, we uplift principles that establish equity and dignity of all people. You can read more about the work at www.welcomingalabama.com

Let’s get talking! The quintessential focus of all Welcoming affiliates is dialogue sessions. And, that’s the start of changing perceptions. Through dialogue, we can unite behind common principles and shared values. When we share our stories, we build mutual empathy and compassion, the foundations of Alabama’s moral fabric.
