Professional confidence is built through responsibility, opportunity, and experience.

This summer, we’re celebrating our PRCA Emerging Practitioners — students and recent graduates who are stepping into internships, career opportunities, and the next chapter of their public relations journey.

Watching these future communicators grow in confidence and capability continues to be one of the most rewarding parts of PRCA’s work.

To those graduating and beginning their careers, and to those interning and gaining experience this summer: we are proud of you and excited for what’s ahead. 👏

In today's crowded media landscape, a well-written press release is only the starting point. What truly captures attention and earns coverage is a compelling story.

At the PRCA annual conference, media professionals shared how they identify meaningful stories, what makes a great pitch stand out, and how communicators can better frame their messages to connect with audiences.

Thank you, Lynn Oldshue of Our Southern Souls; Lenise Ligon of FOX10 News, and the Livin' It Up with Lenise podcast; Kayla Green of Gulf Coast Media; Thomas Bruce (T. Bruce) MacKinnon ll of Bay Business News; Maggie Kates of AL. com; and author and bookseller Jodie Cain Smith of The Haunted Book Shop, for practical insights on pitching stronger stories.

Join us in celebrating an outstanding achievement 👏

At the PRCA annual conference, Nic Amison was named the PRCA Student of the Year, and we couldn’t be more proud to recognize his impact both on campus and in the community.

Through his work at the UAB - The University of Alabama at Birmingham and UAB PRCA/PRSSA, Nic embodies what it means to lead with purpose in public relations.

Moments like this are exactly why PRCA continues to invest in initiatives like our Emerging Practitioners program, creating space for students to grow, contribute, and step confidently into the profession.

Congratulations, Nic. We’re proud to be part of your journey and excited to see what’s next.

The story still matters.

At the 2026 PRCA Conference, Joshua Jones delivered a powerful keynote that reminded us why storytelling remains at the heart of public relations.

As our industry continues to evolve, it’s not just about the tools we use; it’s about the meaning behind the message. Joshua challenged us to think intentionally about the stories we tell and the impact they create.

We’re grateful for speakers like Joshua who inspire our members to grow and lead with purpose.

Today, PRCA North Alabama is proud to be at The University of Alabama in Huntsville, connecting students with professionals across corporate, government, and agency leadership through “A Day in the Life of a PR Practitioner.”

A big thank you to our panelists: Whitney Schmitt, Sonia Robinson, APR, Amanda Jarrett, APR, and moderator Adam Kelley, APR, for investing in the next generation of communicators.
