AERA held its last Orientation Meeting today at the state office. This is the largest standing committee. The Legislative Committee (pictured below) is comprised of 20 members with each of the ten districts having at least one member. The more populous districts are assigned additional members. A significant consideration for appointments to this committee is any influential relationships a member might have with state legislators, with particular interest to those holding key committee assignments or leadership positions.

AERA has five Standing Committees that support the operations of the state association. They are: Community Service, Constitution & Bylaws, Membership, Nominations & Elections, and Legislative.

This week, AERA will have orientations for these committees. Today, members of the Community Service and Constitution & Bylaws Committees met at the state office.

The Community Service Committee is responsible for reviewing the current Statewide Community Service project, helping local units with their community service efforts, and adopting criteria for the Community Service Awards program.

The Constitution & Bylaws Committee is responsible for reviewing the current AERA Constitution & Bylaws for any changes, receiving and preparing proposed amendments to the Constitution & Bylaws, and presenting proposed amendments at the Annual Meeting.

Thank you for your services to AERA!
