What is Rangoli?🪷

Rangoli is a traditional Indian art form where colorful patterns are created on the ground using colored powdered, rice, or flower petals. It is especially popular during festivals like Makar Sankranthi (New Year)🎆, and on special occasions to welcome guests and bring good luck. These vibrant designs, often placed at the entrance of homes, symbolize joy, prosperity, and cultural traditions. Each region in India has its unique Rangoli style, showcasing the country’s rich diversity and artistic heritage.

About AKEEP

AKEEP stands for the Alabama-Korea Education & Economic Partnership. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization whose primary mission is to provide multicultural education programs to students, professionals, and communities of Alabama and Korea. Our secondary mission is to bridge the differences for local economic and educational prosperity as a global partnership facilitator.

AKEEP enables students, professionals, organizations and corporate of Alabama and Korea to take full advantage of the opportunities of growing economic ties between Alabama and South Korea.

AKEEP programs include:

Korean Cultural Experience; an annual performance bringing the best of Korean traditional artists from South Korea to Alabama to perform unforgettable original compositions of modern and traditional arts.

Korean-English Interpretation & Translation Services

Korean as a Second Language (KSL) for Elementary School Students (in accordance with partnered schools)

AKEEP-STARTALK: Cultural Treasure Hunters Korean Language Sumer Camp

Multicultural Workshops / Seminars working with local educational staff and business professionals to discuss understanding and overcoming cultural differences in the workplace or classroom

Global Youth Leadership Programs including BUD Club: A Bridge of Unity in Diversity club for high school students and Service Learning / Intern Programs for current college students and recent graduates
