Per the City of Montgomery, Minnesota, we are in a snow emergency until further notice! Stay safe throughout this weekend!

❄️❄️❄️SNOW EMERGENCY DECLARED ❄️❄️❄️

Effective TONIGHT SATURDAY, MARCH 14TH , 2026 BEGINNING AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE ...... Please be advised that the City of Montgomery has declared a SNOW EMERGENCY. Plows will be out to clear the streets OVERNIGHT TONIGHT AND THROUGH TOMORROW. The Snow Emergency is in effect until FURTHER NOTICE. Once a snow emergency has been declared it is unlawful to park a vehicle on any public street, excluding the Central Business District, until the snow emergency is lifted. The Central Business District is defined as First Street and one block east and west of it between Oak and Boulevard Avenues. Vehicles cannot be parked in the Central Business District after 2:00 a.m. Residents will be allowed to park in the city parking lots until the Snow Emergency is over. However, vehicles must be removed from City Parking lots within 24 hours after the Snow Emergency is over. ** Violators will be ticketed. **

If off-street parking is not available, it is lawful to park on the property front yard during the declared emergency.

Something magnificent for a , in preparation for the MFD 150th Celebration. This is an original photo from 1898 of the fire hall that serviced our community from 1898-1974.

Our current fire hall is the second fire hall built and has been in use since 1974. The original hall was right on the corner of its current location (in the open space of city hall and the Fire Dept) up until it was torn down and rebuilt, essentially around the old Fire Hall.

Our current hall houses two tanker trucks, our ladder truck, our rescue truck, our Pumper 2 truck and an Ambulance.

A mystery we have…we have two bells, one at memorial park and one where the old hall used to sit. No one knows exactly which one is the original bell as everyone says different things! One theory is one is the original bell from when the dept was founded in 1876, the other was what was the replacement bell on the hall before it was torn down!

Yesterday, 5 of our firefighters partook in the American Lung Association in Minnesota’s Fight for Air Stair Climb. Though we had returning members, we were fortunate to have two members climb for the first time! 4 members participated in the firefighter challenge of climbing with full gear…up 52 flights of stairs!

In order to climb, each member had to raid a minimum of $100 in order to climb. Thanks to all who have donated, we were able to raise $2,125 for the American Lung Association. We also were able to be in the top 5 fire dept fundraisers out 31 departments!

It’s time to spring forward this weekend — and stay safe!

When you change your clocks for Daylight Saving Time, take a minute to change the batteries in your smoke detectors and test every alarm in your home.

While you’re at it, don’t forget to:
✔️ Check the expiration date on your smoke detectors!
✔️ Check the expiration date on your carbon monoxide (CO) detectors!

Most smoke alarms need to be replaced about every 10 years, and CO alarms typically every 5–10 years, depending on the manufacturer.

A few minutes today can make a life-saving difference tonight.

You’ve been wondering what’s happening on June 20, and now is the time we share it!

Our entertainment in the park for 2026 will be:

Not only will we have music in the park…we also will have food by local vendors (more info to come), beverages and sweet treats…and bounce houses for the kids!

Speaking of downtown….we are also having some new fun events downtown! Such as a
A classic car Roll-in…with musical entertainment by our own local firefighter, Sean Benz, water fights and….a parade!! Come and check out the classic cars, watch the water fights, enjoy the parade and celebrate!

Not enough? We also will have a raffle with a chance for some great prizes….and to cap it all off…we finish the celebration with fireworks and the closing set of Show Me Your Hits.

Once we get closer, we will share a more definitive schedule once we get closer. We are so excited to celebrate 150 years in the town and communities we love, and we look forward to keeping the tradition.
