Today, the South Eastern Region celebrates the birthday of Soror Vanessa Rogers Long, the 20th South Eastern Regional Director. Initiated through Beta Tau Chapter, she led the region from 1994 to 1998 with a vision that left a lasting imprint on our programs and our people.

Her administration established the South Eastern Regional Summer Partners in Mathematics and Science (PIMS) Camp at Piney Woods Country Life School, opening doors for young scholars across the region. She also created the Vanessa Rogers Long Humanitarian Award, an honor that continues to recognize service and compassion among our sisters. Under her leadership, the region expanded its footprint by chartering six graduate chapters.

Please join us in wishing Soror Long a very happy birthday and in honoring the legacy she built.

Happy birthday to a leader whose work continues to shape our region today. 🩷💚✨

Our ivy was never meant to grow alone. It reaches, it winds, it makes room for what grows beside it.

A garden is not one bloom repeated; it is many, rooted in the same soil, turning toward the same light.

This Pride Month, the South Eastern Region celebrates the fullness of that garden.

Every color, every story, every sister who belongs.

Where there is room to grow, there is room for everyone. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷

All roads led to the South yesterday.

Between the chartering of the 123rd chapter of the South Eastern Region in Enterprise, Alabama, and the next chartering in Athens, South Eastern Regional Director Dr. Tracey Morant Adams and sisters of the South Eastern Region made a deliberate stop at the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery for the All Roads Lead to the South National Day of Action for Voting Rights.

On Saturday, more than 5,000 people from across the country gathered on the same sacred ground where the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery voting rights march concluded, and where Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. addressed a nation about the promise of democracy.

Over 100 buses carried people from more than a dozen states. More than 250 civil rights, faith, labor, and community organizations stood in coalition.

The day began in Selma, where faith leaders gathered at Tabernacle Baptist Church and marched silently across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in remembrance of Bloody Sunday.

By afternoon, thousands filled the streets in front of the Alabama State Capitol, the stage set between the statues of Confederate President Jefferson Davis and civil rights icon Rosa Parks.

Rev. Dr. Bernice A. King stood where her father once stood and called a new generation to action. Sen. Cory Booker called Montgomery “sacred soil.” Rep. Terri Sewell declared it not a protest, but a call to action. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Sen. Raphael Warnock, Rep. Shomari Figures, Roland Martin, LaTosha Brown, and voices from every corner of this country stood together with one message: we won’t go back.

In the words of the late Congressman John Lewis, we must never give up. We must never give in. We must keep the faith. And we must keep our eyes on the prize.

When the mission calls, South Eastern Regional Director Dr. Tracey Morant Adams and the South Eastern Region answer.

We asked. They answered.

At the 92nd Central Regional Conference in Indianapolis, sisters from across the Central Region stepped up to the Pink Mic and shared what keeps them rooted in this sisterhood.

Their words remind us that no matter the region, no matter the chapter, the heartbeat of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is the same: connection, purpose, and a love for service that never fades.

Thank you, sisters, for sharing your hearts. 🩷💚

My dear sisters,

My heart is overflowing with joy as I reflect on the extraordinary outpouring of love and support throughout my culminating regional conference, the 94th South Eastern Regional Conference, as your South Eastern Regional Director.

Your unwavering dedication, encouragement, and prayers have been a constant source of strength and motivation. I especially felt it this week as we soared in power and experienced the magic. You entrusted me to lead you in 2022, and you reaffirmed your confidence in 2024. Every step of this journey has been shaped by your faithfulness and your willingness to stand with me in purpose and conviction as we work to transform, magnify, and accelerate the South Eastern Region through the power of love. Thank you.

To Conference Chairman Tammy Fincher, Cluster VII Host Chapters, Committee Chairs, volunteers, and every sister who traveled near and far to make the SERC 94 what it was. You are the reason this conference will be remembered. Not just for what we accomplished, but for what we felt. In the South Eastern Region, there is a place and a purpose for everyone to call home.

To my leadership team and the women who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, long before the first gavel dropped and long after the last session closed: I see you. I thank you. I honor you, and I carry your sacrifice with me.

This region has given me more than I could ever return. You sharpened my leadership, strengthened my faith, and reminded me every single day why service is the highest calling. What we built together across Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama will endure far beyond any single moment or milestone.

Blessings to you all, sisters, for being such a blessing to my family and to me.

With all my love and gratitude,

Tracey
