Humbled to see our End of May AANHPI pot luck go so hard this year! Since everything is purely volunteer based, we also have to balance our mission at work and our home life as well. Proud of these teammates who pulled together to see this final event through!

Together, we rolled over 1,000 lumpia through a professional development event in late April. We fundraised by selling lumpia at our Proclamation event at the Bx where we gifted The 42nd Commaber a lei. Then we read stories at both CDCs to the preschoolers. They heard stories from Japan, Hawaii and the Philippines. Gunter youth center heard folk tales from Micronesia! Both youth centers received a hula lesson and learned a basic Hawaiian chant! We squeezed in a lei making workshop in collaboration with the Mental Health awareness committee and focused on the art of mindfulness through lei making. And finally, the hard work culminated into a sharing of delicious food and connection.

Maxwell-Gunter folks, we were originally going to sell lumpia again today, but most of our volunteers are military members and the mission is coming first in this case. But please catch us tomorrow at Gunter! Follow the signs to the lumpia as we will be in a parking lot versus a location like the commissary!

2024 rolling party!!! We hosted a rolling party to set up for our fundraising efforts in May. It’s not just about the lumpia (although lumpia is life), it’s about the connections, networking, cultural exchanges and informal mentorship that happens around the tables. Fundraiser with hot Lumpia is tentatively scheduled for 1 May 2024 at the BX at 1100!
