Whether he is participating in the Montgomery Academy’s cross-country team, tennis team, or student leadership council, Dream Court Coach Ruston Wood is passionate about making a positive and lasting impact.
Ruston joined Dream Court in 2024, beginning a journey that would inspire him and create meaningful relationships with athletes and coaches. When asked what keeps him coming back, Ruston said, “The relationships I’ve built with every athlete and coach. They make every session something I look forward to.”
One of Ruston’s favorite memories is playing tennis with Dream Court athlete Wallace Wills. Through their unique communication using sign language, Ruston discovered how powerful consistency, patience, and simply showing up can be. As Wallace’s tennis skills developed, Dream Court also became a place where he could feel heard, supported, and have fun.
Their relationship taught Ruston an important lesson: “A diagnosis doesn’t define a person. Everyone has unique strengths and deserves the opportunity to succeed.”
Ruston encourages everyone to give Dream Court a try. Whether as an athlete or coach, he believes the program provides opportunities to build incredible relationships, learn lifelong values, and make a lasting impact.
“Chances are, you’ll leave wanting to come back because of the people you’ll meet and the impact you’ll make.”
