The Montgomery Sportsmens Club (MSC) Trap Range will be opening this Wednesday, April 1st at 6:00 PM and will be open until 8:00 PM or whenever we are done. Hopefully Mother Nature will not pull an April Fool's Joke on us with the weather. However, the only weather we shut down for is lightning (and maybe a tornado or two).

Prices are the same as last year. We have 5-punch youth punch cards for $25. Regular youth (to 18) is $7.00 without the punch cards. MSC members are $8.00 per round. Non-Members - $9.00. First responders, military, police and fire dept. are $7.00 per round.

Dress for the weather, dust off that shotgun and come on out to the range this Wednesday and every Wednesday until fall. Hope to see you there!

The south winds of spring did not blow in warm air yesterday when the Montgomery Sportsmens Club (MSC) hosted the annual Fi****ms Safety Class (FSC) Field Day at the MSC Trap Range in Montgomery. A brisk 20 degrees with a 30-40 mph south breeze made everybody glad they dressed up like it was still winter.

The FSC class went through all the required stages of firearm and hunting safety. Shooting shotguns at clay targets, shooting .22 rifles, learning how to tie a rope knot a lift their weapons safely up into their treestand ( or in this case the top of the range's wobble house), walking side by side and learning where their range of shooting is, learning how to be safe in a blind, and even learning to walk in the woods, while carrying a gun, and spotting possible areas of concern. Participants were taught how to safely get into a tree stand. There was even a waterjug demonstration of how fast a rifle or shotgun blast can cause death by bleeding.

Lots of walking, lots of learning and hands on led by a great group of DNR-FSC certified instructors who volunteer so much of their time to the 'in-classroom' and field day. I'd like to give a giant shoutout to these volunteers for their efforts and dedication to the fi****ms safety and the shooting sports. This could not happen without you.

Thank you all for your time, your participation and trust in what we do for our youth and the shooting sports. GOD Bless you all.

The Scott-LeSueur Waterfowlers would like to thank everyone who came to the SLW Youth Woodduck Box Build held at the New Prague KC Hall yesterday. There were about 243 youth who came to build their own woodduck box and take it home to put it up for nesting habitat for the soon to be showing up woodducks.

A special thank you to all the sponsors who donated money to make this happen. Thank you all and GOD Bless.

A giant shout-out goes to the volunteers who cut the wood, assisted the youth with building the boxes. None of this would be possible without you.

It was a great day. Thank you all!

The following are some Christmas wishes in various languages:

Czech: Veselé Vánoce a šťastný Nový rok

The sidewalks are empty. Benches and bleachers put away. The guns are silent. A somber feeling on a beautiful fall evening to winterize the Montgomery Sportsmens Club Trap Range. Lots of memories, good times and great shooting. Youth getting their first 25 straight or 50 or a 100! Next spring they will look a bit older, bigger and more confident. New shooters will come out for the first time; but they won't be alone. Our MSC volunteers are always willing to help them out with advice, some coaching and sometimes just to talk about what's going on.

Thank you to all of you that came out to help put it away for another year. Thank you Una for watching over us to make sure it was getting done right. There is a new throwing machine with a whole new personality waiting for you shooters to take it on, one on one. Spring will be here before we know it and GOD willing we can all do it again.
