On June 16, 2026, Rep. Barry Moore of Alabama and Rep. Mike Collins of Georgia each won their respective Republican Senate primary runoffs, setting the stage for what could be a historic moment for the trucking community on Capitol Hill.

From the fight against chameleon carriers and freight fraud, to the reforms needed to curb frivolous and costly lawsuits, to the looming September 30 deadline for a new federal highway authorization bill, trucking needs champions in the Senate who understand the industry at a cellular level. Moore and Collins bring that in spades.

Collins summed up the industries excitement on election night. “Hop in, buckle up and get ready. Y’all this truck is fired up. We’re going to keep the hammer down all the way to November.”

It’s National Technician Appreciation Week. Thank you professional diesel and equipment technicians - Your hard work keeps our industry trucking!

Past Alabama Trucking Chairman Joe Black, who created the Alabama Maintenance Professional Task Force, which supports and fosters education, training and mentoring programs for those working in the industry, said that maintenance professionals are key to the success of any great trucking operation, whether it’s a carrier, an equipment manufacturer, or a dealer.

“Maintenance technicians are the unsung heroes in trucking,” he said. “These are hands-on pros who combine expertise and hard work to ensure the safe and efficient movement of America’s freight. On behalf of Alabama’s trucking industry, we thank them for the vital role they play in keeping our economy moving and our drivers safe.”

New column by Alabama Trucking’s Road Team Captain Lloyd Howell - “On The Road Again.”

“As a professional truck driver and an ambassador for the trucking industry, the Alabama Truck Driving Championship is a day marked on my calendar every year.”

“There’s a bond in knowing that the other competitors worked just as hard as you did to get here, and you can sense the respect drivers have for each other. This is more than a gathering to compete; it’s also our chance to reunite, make new friends and most importantly, start the playful trash talk with my fellow drivers.”

Tomorrow is Election Day — again. Alabama’s primary runoff elections are set for Tuesday, June 16, and the stakes couldn’t be higher for the men and women who keep this state’s economy rolling.

Runoff turnout is almost always lower than primary turnout — which means your vote carries more weight, not less. For the trucking industry, that’s an opportunity, not an afterthought. Alabama Trucking’s TRUK PAC works hard each election cycle to identify and endorse candidates who understand what trucking companies, drivers, and everyone who depends on this industry needs from their elected officials: less regulatory burden, lawsuit reform, pro-business policies, and a real commitment to roadway safety. Several of those TRUK PAC-endorsed candidates are on the June 16 ballot, and they need your help crossing the finish line.

New AI content from Andrew Ryan: The question is not whether AI will change your industry. It already has. The question is whether you will be the person who knows how to use it, or the person still waiting for someone to explain it.

This article is about what happens when you actually start. What it unlocks in you. Why the experience you have been building for 20 or 30 years is about to become more powerful than it has ever been. And what to do, specifically, this week, to feel that shift for yourself.
