Part 1 of 3: Nat King Cole Society Celebrates 30 Years with "Unforgettable Finale"
🌟 The Nat King Cole Society, Inc. (NKCS) of Montgomery, Alabama, reached a remarkable milestone on March 17, 2024, as it celebrated its 30th anniversary with the unforgettable "Unforgettable Finale" event at the RSA Activity Center in downtown Montgomery. This grand occasion paid tribute to the enduring legacy of the legendary musician Nat King Cole.

📸 Captured beautifully by Jacque Chandler of Picture This, Montgomery, AL, with the lively and engaging Robb Taylor from WVAS FM 90.7 as Master of Ceremony, the evening was a delightful blend of music and memories. We were honored by the presence of Bullock County native, Rep. Anthony Daniels, Alabama House Minority Leader, and candidate for U.S. Congress for the second congressional district.

🎶 The event showcased the immense talent nurtured by Alabama State University's College of Visual and Performing Arts, with performances that left a lasting impression. Board members, including Kala Dennis of Union Springs, AL, played pivotal roles in organizing this remarkable celebration.

🌟 Felicia Reed-Taylor set the tone with grace, while Ms. Wanda Battle's invocation filled the room with blessings. Ashley Wright Barnett's stunning renditions of Nat King Cole's timeless songs added to the nostalgic atmosphere, complemented by Ron Handy's musical talent.

❤️ A special presentation by Mrs. Rozelia Harris' family added a heartfelt touch, reminding us of Nat King Cole's personal impact. Thanks to generous sponsors, $12,000 in scholarships were awarded to Alabama State University, supporting the departments of Music and Theatre Arts.

🙏 Pastor Dr. Fred Batten's closing blessings filled our hearts with gratitude and hope. The Nat King Cole Society, Inc. continues its mission to honor and preserve Nat King Cole's legacy through educational programs, cultural events, and preservation projects like the Nat King Cole house and bust in Montgomery, AL. With community support, we're committed to inspiring generations with Nat King Cole's music and message. 🎶✨
