Please join us tomorrow as we welcome Pastor Ken Austin from the New Walk of Life Church (NWLC).

Pastor Ken Austin is the Executive Director of Mercy House/MAP Ministries. He serves as the pastor of New Walk of Life Church, which he founded with his wife, Thomasina. He is a visionary leader dedicated to transforming lives through service and compassion.

After honorable service in the U.S. Air Force, he didn't know what path to follow. He only knew he wanted to continue serving his community—especially those most in need. After working in business and the nonprofit world, he eventually became the pastor of the New Walk of Life Church in the heart of West Montgomery.

Driven by Christ's command to "love your neighbor as yourself," NWLC is focused on serving its community, and a "Ministry About People" (MAP) was born. NWLC established the Mercy House across the street from the church to provide a hot meal, a shower, or fresh clothes to a neighbor in need.

As volunteers and donors rallied to support the cause, the ministry grew into its own nonprofit organization.
MAP is more than a program for food, housing, jobs, or education. It is about people—one neighbor serving another in Jesus' name. Because of that core value, MAP has successfully partnered with dozens of other nonprofits, churches, social groups, businesses, and civic leaders, all with a common goal of paving the way to a brighter future for every man, woman, boy, and girl across Central and West Montgomery.

Hope to see you there!

Come join us Thursday for our last speaker in April! Jamie Mitchell is the Executive Director of ALPALS or Alabama People Against A Littered State. ALPALS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 1987 to combat litter through a cleanup program, education, and partnerships with local governments and schools.

A graduate of Mississippi State University, Jamie spent several years in sales before joining Alabama PALS as the Clean Campus Coordinator in 2014. After 10 years of speaking to students about litter prevention and pickups, Jamie transitioned into the role of Executive Director at PALS in 2024, where she now coordinates all programs and events, including the "Don't Drop it on Alabama" Spring Cleanup and the Alabama Coastal Cleanup involving thousands of volunteers across all 67 counties. Jamie resides in Montgomery with her husband, Philip, and 2 children.
