Mental health touches every family, workplace, and community. But how much do we really know about the work happening to support Alabamians?

This Thursday, Montgomery Capital Rotary welcomes Collier Tynes Dixon, Chief of Staff at the Alabama Department of Mental Health, for a conversation about an issue that affects us all.

Collier has dedicated her career to supporting Alabama's children and families. From her early work advocating for children in foster care and survivors of domestic violence to her leadership in social services, she brings a valuable perspective on the challenges families face and the importance of access to care.

Today, she works alongside the ADMH Commissioner to help shape policies, legislation, and services for Alabamians living with mental illness, substance use disorders, and developmental disabilities.

We're looking forward to welcoming Collier and learning more about the work taking place across our state to support individuals and families.

Congratulations to our fellow Rotarian Gerald Jones, Executive Director of Brantwood Children’s Home, on receiving the Leadership Montgomery Unity Award!

The Unity Award honors individuals whose leadership and service help bring people together and strengthen our community. For Gerald, whose work is centered on serving youth in Montgomery, it is a particularly meaningful recognition.

We’re proud to have Gerald around our Rotary table and proud to see his commitment to service recognized in such a special way!

We’re proud to be one of the newest members of the Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce! 💙

For Montgomery Capital Rotary, being connected to our community matters. The relationships we build around the Rotary table are important, but so are the ones we build beyond it with the businesses, organizations, and people working every day to move Montgomery forward.

We’re excited to be part of the Chamber community and look forward to even more opportunities to connect, collaborate, and show up for the city we all call home.

What if one of Alabama’s biggest workforce engines isn’t where you think it is?

This Thursday, Montgomery Capital Rotary welcomes Neil Scott, Vice Chancellor for Student Success at the Alabama Community College System (ACCS), for a conversation about education, opportunity, and Alabama's changing workforce.

Alabama’s community colleges are helping connect students of all ages with high-demand careers while working directly with employers to build the talent our state needs. From apprenticeships and workforce training to short-term credentials and dual enrollment, the path from education to career looks very different than it did even a generation ago.

Neil brings a unique perspective to that work. A first-generation college student himself, he now helps lead efforts focused on student success across Alabama’s 24 community and technical colleges.

We’re looking forward to hearing his perspective on what’s changing, where the opportunities are, and what it all means for Alabama’s future. Join us!

What does it look like to turn leadership into service?

This Thursday, Montgomery Capital Rotary welcomes Doug Singleton, Chairman of the Montgomery County Commission, for a conversation about leadership, community, and serving Montgomery.

Doug has spent his career leading in both business and public service, with experience at companies including Coca-Cola and Xerox, as a small business owner, and now nearly a decade on the Montgomery County Commission.

But his commitment to Montgomery extends well beyond his professional roles. Doug is the founder and president of the Montgomery Miracle League, has spent decades volunteering with youth programs and local organizations, and continues to serve on boards focused on everything from economic development and transportation to recreation and quality of life.

It’s a combination that makes for a great Rotary conversation: leadership grounded in service and a willingness to stay involved in the community you call home.

Join us Thursday as we hear from Doug about his experiences, his perspective on Montgomery, and the lessons he’s learned along the way.

A morning well spent. 💙

Montgomery Capital Rotary members recently spent time serving alongside the team at Woodland Methodist Food Pantry in Pike Road, lending a few extra hands to support the work they do for neighbors in their community.

We enjoyed stepping away from the normal routine, working side by side, and simply being useful where help is needed.

We’re grateful to Woodland Food Pantry for welcoming our group and for the work they continue to do throughout the Pike Road community.

And to our Rotarians who showed up ready to pitch in, thank you. Good people, good work, and a pretty great way to spend a morning together.
