πŸ—£οΈ 75 Stories of Care | Helping Residents Feel Seen and Heard

For the past 10 years, Eric Wobschall, Social Services Director at Florala Health and Rehabilitation, LLC, has helped residents and families navigate the challenges that often accompany a move into long term care.

By listening, educating, and building meaningful relationships, he works to ensure every resident feels valued and every family feels supported.

"When I see someone smile and their tension lighten, and they tell me how much more educated and empowered they feel, I know I have shed some light onto their path."

Thank you, Eric, for demonstrating the compassion, empathy, and dedication that make a difference every day.

πŸ“– ANHA Members: Help Us Reach 75 Stories for 75 Years

As we celebrate ANHA's 75th Anniversary, we're continuing to collect stories that showcase the compassion, dedication, innovation, and impact happening every day in Alabama's long term care communities.

Don't let your facility's story go untold. Help us celebrate by contributing a 75 Stories of Care submission.

Your story doesn't have to be elaborate. Some of the most powerful submissions have highlighted:
πŸ’™ A resident achievement
πŸ’™ A dedicated staff member
πŸ’™ A special event or tradition
πŸ’™ A meaningful moment between residents and caregivers

βœ” One story per facility
βœ” Photo with a brief caption or short video
βœ” New content or something you've already shared

Help us celebrate the people and moments that make long term care so meaningful.

πŸ‘ June 11–17 is National CNA Week!

This year's theme, "We're Unbelievable," is a fitting tribute to the nearly one million Certified Nursing Assistants across the country who provide compassionate care and support to older adults and individuals with disabilities every day.

CNAs are often the caregivers who know residents best. They celebrate milestones, offer comfort during difficult moments, provide encouragement, and build meaningful relationships that make a lasting difference in residents' lives.

Their dedication, professionalism, and compassion are at the heart of long term care.

During National CNA Week, ANHA proudly joins providers across Alabama in recognizing these frontline caregivers and thanking them for the essential role they play in enhancing the quality of life for those they serve.

To all of Alabama's CNAs: Thank you for being unbelievable. We appreciate all that you do.

Alabama long term care leaders were on Capitol Hill this week participating in the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living 2026 Congressional Briefing, where they met with members of Congress and discussed issues that impact nursing home and assisted living residents, caregivers, and providers across our state.

The annual event equips participants with the latest information on federal policy and provides an opportunity to share firsthand perspectives with lawmakers about the challenges and opportunities facing long term care.

Thank you to our Alabama representatives for advocating on behalf of those who live and work in long term care communities throughout our state.

🏑75 Stories of Care | A Legacy of Family and Service

For nearly 60 years, Burns Nursing & Rehab has been a cornerstone of care in Russellville, serving generations of residents and families through a tradition rooted in compassion, faith, and community.

Founded in 1966 by Dr. John D. Burns and Ethel Burns, the facility remains family-led today. Administrator Mark DeArman and Director of Nursing Lindley DeArman continue the legacy established by previous generations, maintaining the same family-centered atmosphere that has defined Burns for decades.

Thank you to the Burns and DeArman families for nearly 60 years of caring for their community.
