🏆 MEET THE 2026 LEADERS IN LONG TERM CARE FINALISTS!

For the first time, ANHA is proud to recognize outstanding individuals from across Alabama through our inaugural Leaders in Long Term Care Awards!

From caregivers on the front lines to leaders guiding teams and communities, these awards celebrate the people whose compassion, dedication and leadership represent the very best of long term care.

Over the coming days, we’ll introduce the three finalists in each of our five award categories.

Then, on September 24, one recipient from each category will be revealed during ANHA’s 75th Anniversary Celebration & Awards Ceremony.

15 finalists. Five categories. Five inaugural award recipients.

Stay tuned as we begin introducing our 2026 finalists!

🎣 75 Stories of Care | Back to the Great Outdoors

Residents at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, LLC in Florence had an amazing time on their Father’s Day Men’s Fishing Trip — and this one was extra special!

It marked their first big resident outing since COVID, making it a day they won’t soon forget. The gentlemen enjoyed a beautiful day by the water, cast their lines, shared plenty of laughs, and enjoyed some delicious pizza and wings from The Rising Crust.

Some fish were caught… and, of course, “THE BIG ONE GOT AWAY!”

At Kensington Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mobile, Mardi Gras isn’t just a celebration—it’s a tradition that makes residents feel celebrated, beautiful and seen.

It takes tremendous teamwork to make the tradition happen, but the result is something even more special: an unforgettable experience for residents and a celebration that brings an entire community together.

✨ 75 Stories of Care | 35 Years of Caring

When Nancy Summers started at what is now Cumberland Health & Rehab, the building was still new. She helped pull stickers from kitchen equipment, trained members of the first kitchen staff, and was there to welcome the facility’s very first resident.

Thirty-five years later, she’s still serving.

During her career, Nancy has witnessed remarkable rehabilitation successes, watched coworkers go above and beyond to make sure residents are eating and thriving, and even seen two residents meet, fall in love, and get married.

Read Nancy’s story and discover what has kept her dedicated to long term care for more than three decades: https://anha.pulse.ly/276mbdftgi.

Today, we celebrate the generations who helped shape our families, communities and state.

On National Senior Citizens Day, ANHA is proud to recognize older adults across Alabama and the experiences, wisdom and contributions they continue to share with those around them.

In long term care communities across our state, every resident brings a lifetime of stories, relationships, accomplishments and lessons worth celebrating. They are parents and grandparents, veterans and teachers, business owners and community leaders, neighbors and friends—and so much more.

Today is an opportunity not only to honor older adults, but also to listen to their stories, learn from their experiences and celebrate the individuals they are.

To Alabama's seniors: thank you for all you have given—and all you continue to give.
