MERRY CHRISTMAS FOR THE CONN FAMILY TEAM!
Dear Friends & Family,
Every year holds unique blessings & challenges, and 2022 is at the top! Let’s back up to Christmas 2021. Lisa’s mom passed away in December. It was a blessing that Lisa was able to take care of her during the months preceding her death and all of her 3 children, our 3 children, and her 6 great-grandchildren visited their Gran.
On Dec. 28, our entire household became sick with COVID. Pneumonia soon set in for Lisa and Aimee while Mike and Colten (Aimee’s fiancé) recovered. While the rest of us improved, Aimee got worse most likely due to an autoimmune disease and the weekly meds to treat it. We soon learned about “Long Covid” and were blessed to have a doctor who, well-versed in the complexities of Covid, offered to care for Aimee. Thus began a roller coaster ride like none we’ve ever experienced. Every system in Aimee’s body has come under attack: she had an increased risk of pulmonary embolism which required 2 injections/day. With a heart rate of 145 and a temp that spiked to 104.6, Her liver enzymes increased at an alarming rate, leading to a liver biopsy revealed “Covid inflammation”. Despite daily headaches and fever, Aimee finally had normal labs and has resumed driving and working some from home, however, fatigue, brain fog, and insomnia remain. Despite everything, we feel blessed that it hasn’t been worse and that she was able to stay home thanks to the attention of her doctor. Our prayer is she will not have permanent damage to any of her organs, that she can resume a “normal” life, and that God will use her experience to help others.
For we know that God makes all things work together for good,
for those who love him and have been called
according to his purpose. Romans 8:28.
Mike’s mom in Vicksburg, who will be 93 soon, is having a difficult time with her health. We pray for God’s mercy and favor for her and for us as we face the challenges before us.
