🖤🐾 Happy National Black Dog Day! 🐾🖤

Today we’re celebrating the beautiful, loyal, goofy, and loving black dogs who deserve just as much love and attention as every other pup. 🐶❤️

Did you know October 1 is National Black Dog Day? It was created to shine a light on black coated dogs and encourage people to look beyond appearance when choosing a companion.

Black Dog Syndrome is the idea that black dogs are overlooked in shelters, although research on this is mixed.

If you’re lucky enough to have a black dog in your life, we’d love to celebrate them share a favorite photo 📸🐾

🌺 Meet Maui — A Diamond in the Ruff! 💎🐾

Maui hasn’t exactly had the pawfect start to life, but this girl refuses to let her past steal her sunshine! ☀️ She is a happy, affectionate Great Dane who is ready to trade her “rough around the edges” era for a life filled with love, learning, and LOTS of snuggles. ❤️

When Maui first arrived, her manners were… well… let’s just say she may have skipped that class. 😂 But she’s smart, eager to please, and learning that not every exciting moment requires a full Great Dane celebration! 🎉🐕

Maui is definitely a diamond in the ruff who will need a patient family willing to continue working with her on her manners and helping her learn how to be the best girl she can be. She gets VERY excited, and sometimes her enthusiasm arrives before her brain does. 😆

But put in the time, consistency, and patience, and you’ll be rewarded with something priceless:

✨ A loving, affectionate companion
✨ A smart girl who genuinely wants to please
✨ Plenty of goofy Great Dane antics
✨ Endless snuggles
✨ And, perhaps best of all… the CUTEST little wiggly nub tail! 🍑😂

Maui may need a little polishing, but underneath it all is a wonderful girl just waiting for someone to see her potential and help her shine. 💎🌺

Maui is looking for a family who understands that the best things in life sometimes come with a little work—and she promises to pay you back in love, cuddles, and that adorable wiggly nub! ❤️🐾

Maui is spayed & UTD on vet care, vaccines and preventatives. She is currently being fostered in the Nashville TN area. We adopt NATIONWIDE but in most cases require adopters to travel to the foster home with their current dog/dogs (to ensure they will be friends) to pick up. Out of respect for our foster family's time and privacy, we do NOT arrange meet and greet without an approved application on file. If you’re interested in adopting Maui, you can view our requirements, age based adoption fees and fill out an adoption application at https://www.luckyfarmsrescue.org/adoption

Family member says "Doc is a gentle giant. A sweet fella that only wants to be loved. Doc will bark at people he doesn't know but once introduced and feels comfortable with his surroundings he is totally a big sweetheart. He's been good with my two dogs. Doc loves attention....he loves treats, to run and play outside. He lets me know if his water bowl is empty or he has to go out to potty."

We provide for all of the dog’s financial needs during fostering. You provide the love and understanding ❤️ with guidance from our experienced volunteers.

We do have high standards for our fosters as we do want to provide our dogs with better than the poor circumstances many come from. So all pets in home must have history of standard vaccines (rabies and dhpp/ we will accept titer testing) and heartworm prevention (for dogs). All pets must be altered (spayed/neutered) unless medically ill advised or too young to safely alter.

If you can provide a loving temporary (or permanent) spot on your couch for Doc or another giant breed dog in need, please email us at [email protected]

Furry Feature of the Week – Aries!

Meet Aries! Aries is a beautiful short-haired lady with a gentle spirit and soulful eyes to match. She lost her home through no fault of her own when her owner was no longer able to keep her, and we were happy to make our shy girl’s acquaintance.

Though she may seem reserved at first, Aries is a delightful, sweet, dear girl who simply needs a little time to feel safe. Once she realizes attention is coming her way, she blossoms and will quietly pop right out of her shell for affection. Now residing comfortably among her kittymates, she gets along just fine with the other cats in her room.

Aries would thrive in a quiet, low-key home where she can enjoy cozy safe spots and a calm routine, but she will absolutely appreciate being doted on. With patience and love, she will reward her person with loyal companionship and gentle devotion. DOB: 12/2023
