LaKeith Smith has now celebrated 11 birthdays inside a maximum security prison since he was 15. He just turned 26. The actual crime he is responsible for committing is stealing video games from an unoccupied home. When police came, the boys ran. Tragically, Alabama police officers shot and killed one of the boys, A’Donte Washington. May he RIP. They charged LaKeith Smith who was 15 years old as an adult for the murder he didn’t commit. LaKeith Smith should be home with his family. Period. The time should for the crime as his Mom Brontina Smith says. For LaKeith’s birthday please share his story and keep him and his family in your prayers.

The felony murder rule: a law meant to deliver justice, but in Lakeith Smith’s case, it highlights a deep injustice. Charged with murder for a crime he didn’t commit, simply because he was present. This outdated rule punishes him for another’s actions, underscoring the need for change and fairness in our legal system.
