Hazen's Notch Association Hazen;s Notch Summer Camp is a program of the Hazen's Notch Association.

Hazen's Notch Association, cooperates with High Ponds Farm Nature Preserve and Burnt Mountain Conservation Area to maintain the trail to the summit of Burnt Mountain. From its office at the HNA Welcome Center on Vermont Route 58, the Hazen's Notch Road, the Hazen's Notch Association serves 40 communities in northern Vermont. The HNA promotes and engages in:

- Conservation of Forest and Agricultu

ral Lands and Recreational Trails;
- Environmental Education Programs for Schools and the Public;
- Recreational Trails for Hiking, Snowshoeing, and Cross-Country Skiing;
- Stewardship of Natural and Historic Cultural Resources;
- Research of the Environment.

Trails are Open. This is the trailhead information signboard at the High Ponds Farm Nature Preserve. Park below the gate on the Rossier Road and walk up the gravel road to the Dodge House and the start of the Beaver Ponds Trail which leads to all other trails.

Join Franklin County Natural Resource Conservation District staff on a watershed hike on the Hazen's Notch Trails. Leaders will discuss how water moves through the watershed, how healthy forests and soils protect water quality, and how thoughtful trail design helps reduce erosion and runoff. Participants will also learn about Leave No Trace principles and the importance of protecting critical wildlife habitats while enjoying Vermont's outdoor spaces.

This easy-to-moderate hike will follow trails through the Bear Paw Pond Conservation Area and High Ponds Farm Nature Preserve. The anticipated route is 3.5 miles with ~400 feet of elevation gain. Staff and volunteers from VT Center for Ecostudies, VT Land Trust and Hazen's Notch Association participated in a one-day butterfly survey on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at the High Ponds Farm Nature Preserve in Montgomery, VT. Butterflies seen include:
• Cabbage White
• Midsummer Tiger Swallowtail
• Dun Skipper
• Red-spotted Admiral (Northern White form)
• Peck's Skipper
• Great Spangled Fritillary
• Northern Broken Dash
• An Azure (likely the Summer Azure)
•14 Monarchs!
