Hello! I'm Eloan '27 from Belgium, and this summer I was nominated by UWC-USA to participate in the Student Diplomacy Corps in Alaska. During the program, I took a pre-university course focused on marine biology, oceanography, and ecology.

Throughout the experience, I learned about a wide range of topics, from glacier succession and sustainable energy, to the Tlingit culture and the Indigenous people of Southeast Alaska.

We also did incredible outdoor activities, including hiking in bear country, kayaking alongside sea lions, rafting, and observing whales and orcas in the wild.

This adventure was truly unforgettable. It gave me so many memories and invaluable knowledge that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Richmond Owusu '05, a Davis UWC Scholar, is now a Urologic Surgeon. Dr. Owusu was awarded a Davis scholarship to attend Princeton University where he earned a BA in Chemistry.

Twenty-five years ago, a bold vision was launched, one that got its start in a visit to UWC-USA years earlier. The vision was to provide young, internationally-minded students with the opportunity to benefit from higher education and bring their perspectives to US colleges and universities.

The Davis UWC Scholars Program was born not just from a desire to fund
undergraduate education, but from a profound belief in the potential of UWC
graduates to act as catalysts for a more peaceful, sustainable, and just world.

The UWC-USA community is profoundly grateful to the Davis Family for their
extraordinary generosity, the vision they shared with Dr. Phil Geier for this
program, and their unwavering faith in our students.

Zinaida Dedeic '04, a Davis UWC Scholar Class of 2004, has a career in cancer research. Zinaida earned a BA in Biological Science at College of the Atlantic.
