Legal Services for Seniors Nonprofit law firm To our knowledge, LSS is the only nonprofit organization in Monterey County providing seniors with no-cost professional legal services.

History - Legal Services for Seniors (LSS) was founded in 1985 to provide no-cost legal assistance to Monterey County's low-income seniors by licensed California attorneys. Over the past 31 years, LSS has helped more than 85,000 Monterey Country seniors with legal issues including financial and physical elder abuse, scams, landlord-tenant conflicts, Medicare and private insurance problems, Social

Security problems, consumer law, identity theft, probate guardianships, Wills and Advance Health Care Directives. Programs - Each year LSS helps 2,500+ low income Monterey County seniors with direct, confidential attorney services and provides community education to another 1,000 seniors at low income housing complexes, seniors residential facilities, the Health & Vitality Speaker Series, Senior Day Resource Fair at the Monterey County Fair, Rotary Clubs and churches. LSS provides legal services in two offices (Seaside and Salinas) and ten weekly outreach locations in Southern Monterey County (King City, Greenfield, Soledad and Gonzales), Northern Monterey County (Castroville and Prunedale) and on the Peninsula (Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel and Carmel Valley). Most of our staff is bilingual. Recent accomplishments - Last year, LSS assisted 2,700 seniors with professional legal services and protected more than $900,000 of our seniors' assets.
